Should we prefer a monopolistic or competitive Jihad?

Matt Yglesias asks MR to address whether we would prefer, all other things equal, terrorists organized into a single group, or organized into competing groups. Interesting analysis and the conclusion is that we would probably prefer a competitive Jihad to deny the terrorists economies of scale (eg a nuclear weapon), and to encourage internecine warfare.
